A temporary residence card typically refers to an official document issued by the government that allows foreign nationals to live in that country for a specific period, usually for a temporary or non-permanent purpose. The card serves as proof of the legal rights of individuals to reside in the country during the validity of the card.
According to Clause 13, Article 3 of the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam 2014, a temporary residence card is a document issued by an immigration management agency or a competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. granted to foreigners who are allowed to reside in Vietnam for a definite time and are valid for visas.
Procedures For Granting Temporary Residence Cards To Foreigners In Vietnam
Cases where temporary residence cards are granted include:
- Case 1: The foreigner is a member of a diplomatic mission, consular office, representative office of an international organization of the United Nations, an intergovernmental organization in Vietnam and his or her spouse and children under 18 years old, the maid accompanied by term. The temporary residence card in this case has the symbol NG3.
- Case 2: Foreigners enter with visas with symbols LV1, LV2, LS, DT1, DT2, DT3, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LD1, LD2, TT. The temporary residence card in this case has the same symbol as the visa symbol.
Dossier to apply for a temporary residence card for foreigners in Vietnam includes:
- A written request from the agency, organization or individual that carries out the procedures for inviting or guaranteeing;
- An application form for a temporary residence card with a photo;
- Passport;
- Documents proving the case in item.
4. Procedures for granting temporary residence cards to foreigners in Vietnam
Procedures for granting temporary residence cards are as follows:
- A foreign diplomatic mission, consular office or other authorized agency in Vietnam shall submit an application for a temporary residence card with the symbol NG3 at a competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
- Agencies, organizations and individuals that invite or guarantee directly submit dossiers of application for temporary residence cards to foreigners in case 2 at the immigration management agency where the inviting or guaranteeing agency or organization is located. locate the head office or the place where the invited or guaranteed individual resides;
- Within 05 working days from the day on which the complete application is received, the immigration management agency or the competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall consider and grant the temporary residence card.
5. Term of temporary residence card
- The duration of the temporary residence card issued is at least 30 days shorter than the remaining validity of the passport.
- Temporary residence card with symbol DT1 is valid for not more than 10 years.
- Temporary residence cards with symbols NG3, LV1, LV2, LS, DT2 and DH are valid for no more than 5 years.
- Temporary residence cards with symbols NN1, NN2, DT3, TT are valid for no more than 03 years.
- Temporary residence cards with symbols LD1, LD2 and PV1 are valid for no more than 02 years.
- Expired temporary residence card will be considered for a new card.
